Japanese people do not know what "Baskin-Robbins" is.

Although there is a store in Japan, Japanese people don't know about "Baskin-Robbins".

"Baskin-Robbins" is a world-famous ice cream store founded in the United States, with stores in 40 countries around the world.
There are about 1,000 stores in Japan.
However, most Japanese people do not know the name "Baskin-Robbins".
Why is that?

Brand name is called differently.

"Baskin-Robbins" stores sell about 30 different kinds of ice cream.
This is because the founder wanted people to enjoy a different flavor every day for a month (Maximum of 31 days).

For this reason, it is known as "31 Ice Cream" in Japan.
It is popularly known as "サーティーワンアイスクリーム(Thirty-One Ice Cream)" in Japanese.

The reason why very few people in Japan know the brand name "Baskin-Robbins" is because the brand name is called differently.
Note : The Baskin-Robbins logo is also on the store's sign and on the cups that contain the ice cream.

My guess is that many people in Japan were not familiar with English pronunciation and could not read the logo of "Baskin-Robbins" when they saw it.

Incidentally, Taiwan is also known as "Thirty-One Ice Cream" as in Japan.
This is because Japanese companies are involved in the opening of "Baskin-Robbins" stores in Taiwan.
